(E06) Beyond E - Managing Social and Governance in Construction ESG

E = Environmental in ESG, but it might stand for Energy, or maybe even Elephant in the room, because energy consumption is “the big one” many ESG managers focus on. Compared to Social and Governance, Environmental is the least confusing and most well documented. But managers who overlook S and G risk alienating owners, investors and the public at large putting pressure on construction teams to track, report and deliver on goals in all three areas. This advanced discussion will take attendees “beyond the E in ESG” and deliver an in-depth education on how construction teams can deliver significant results, affect positive outcomes, and clearly report reliable, trackable supporting evidence. Presenters include Tommy Linstroth (author, LEED Fellow and CEO of Green Badger), Cheryl Buening (ENV SP, LEED AP BD+C, Global Sustainability at Fluor Corporation), Ryan Poole (LEED AP BD+C, Global Sustainability Leader at DPR Constructions), and Jennifer Taranto (LEED Fellow, VP of Sustainability for StructureTone). The team will present the common metrics to track and the potential pitfalls to avoid. Attendees will learn the means to make ESG essential and second nature, as well as advice on creating a transparent reporting system and working collectively across departments (HR, finance, legal).
