(E04) Nature in COP27 - what this means for climate action in different industry sectors - architectural design and built environment

How are the COP27 discussions around investment, infrastructure, and innovation determining and shaping the role of Nature in the built environment and its impact on the ongoing climate change considerations? How is the building sector and other industry sectors impacted by emerging perspectives.

A multi-generational, multi-disciplinary (architect, scientist, indigenous expert, and resiliency leader) panel of facilitators and speakers will lead a series of interactive conversations around the conscious integration of nature-based solutions, alongside some of the challenges and opportunities ahead.

By reserving Nature a seat at the table, panelists will delve into the role of architects, engineers, stewards, investment valuations, infrastructure, and technology in advancing the integration of nature-based solutions, the increment of funding, commitments from governments and the private sector, the development of standards and best practices, international partnerships, and public education on the benefits of a holistic design and architecture approach.

A look at working with nature and all natural resources on-site, solar, geothermal, natural ventilation, rain capture, water, wind, and available energies to inspire creative, efficient built solutions and optimize environments for people and the planet. Insights through case studies, incorporating biomimicry, implementing integrated, long-vision solutions and expanding successful multi-faceted stewardship mindset.

Case studies include projects recognized by AIA with Honor Awards for Design Excellence and AIA International with Design and Sustainable Future Award and share globally diverse perspectives.
