(A08) How Meta Data Centers Committed to be Water Positive using Collaboration at Scale

Meta is exploring new territory with a goal to be Water Positive by 2030, tackling this challenge by developing innovative solutions to return more water to the environment than we consume for our global operations. With solutions not readily available in the market, how can we change the industry? With 2030 rapidly approaching, good ideas can come from anywhere so collaboration with design and construction partners is paramount to ensure we achieve our goal.

In this session, we will showcase how to develop new initiatives, gain stakeholder buy-in, and capitalize on cross-functional partnerships to collaboratively strengthen a program. Meta will present the development of their Water Positive goal, optimizations and reductions of whole building and site operational water, analysis and exploration of construction water, established offsite water restoration projects, and our ongoing partnership with USGBC on pilot ACPs. Our panel will also examine the intent behind each strategy and how to hold true to company goals with an intentional sustainability program.

Brightworks Sustainability will share how to map a client’s commitments to sustainability strategies and effectively engage diverse stakeholders for actionable results. Fortis Construction will share their experience working for a client with strong sustainability goals and creating buy-in for innovative solutions with construction site teams and subcontractors. The aim is to empower partners to be accountable for the environmental and social impacts of their programs. Meta will share their innovation life cycle - taking a new initiative from an idea to the portfolio-level execution.
