Don Horn, FAIA, LEED Fellow, is a leader in improving the efficiency and effectiveness of buildings through policy and advocacy with the federal government. Don promotes environmentally responsible decision-making for buildings, and translates green building strategies and ideals into practical solutions to meet federal climate goals.
His professional service includes leadership roles in the development of ASHRAE Standard 189.1, Standard for the Design of High-Performance Green Buildings (the International Green Construction Code), the Guiding Principles for Sustainable Federal Buildings, and advisory roles in three of the primary green building certification organizations in the U.S. – the U.S. Green Building Council, the Green Building Initiative, and the International Living Future Institute.
Don worked for 32 years at the U.S. General Services Administration in both sustainable design and historic preservation. He holds a Master of Architecture degree from Georgia Tech and a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Virginia.
