A founding partner of Sundberg Kennedy Ly-Au Young Architects, Gladys Ly-Au Young is driven by a social purpose to design earth-friendly, community-based places that function well, create belonging, and promote health and well-being. With a core conviction that affordable housing should provide an equitable housing solution to people and the planet, Gladys' Ulex limited equity cooperative affordable housing is a pilot project in ILFI’s Affordable Housing Framework Program, with the goal to achieve petal certification in Place, Equity, and Materials. In addition to ILFI, she collaborates closely with other organizations to promote using Red List Free materials in affordable housing.
Gladys holds a Social Justice Graduate Certification from Harvard Extension School, a Master of Science in Sustainable Design from Carnegie Mellon University, and a Bachelor of Architecture from Washington State University. She has applied a deep understanding of sustainable design and thoughtful design integrity to projects for 30 years.
