Uwe S. Brandes is professor of the practice, faculty director of the Urban & Regional Planning Program and faculty director of the Georgetown Global Cities Initiative. He serves as chair of the District of Columbia Commission on Climate Change & Resiliency and the NoMa Parks Foundation. Brandes is a scholar-practitioner in the field of urban design and sustainable urban development, with more than 25 years of experience in the planning, design, and development of new buildings, the public realm, and community development partnerships. Projects completed under his direction have received national awards from the American Planning Association, the American Institute of Architects, the American Society of Landscape Architects and the Urban Land Institute.
