Sustainability Architect
Guidon Design
Indianapolis, Indiana
Chris Reinhart is an architect and educator who has implemented sustainability across a range of scales. In his role at Guidon Design, he works on the large end of the continuum as a sustainability consultant on institutional and commercial buildings and campuses pursuing LEED, SITES, ASHRAE 189, and other sustainability targets. Previously, and on the smaller end of the spectrum, he has provided design, education, and consulting on architectural sustainability with owner-builders using natural materials and creating permaculture garden farms. He was also the designer of non-profit Open Source Ecology’s first two MicroHouse projects, and served as workshop leader for constructing those projects with volunteers. He has a special passion for earth and straw architecture, with which he designed and built his own passive solar home. He formerly taught environmental systems and sustainability in Ball State University’s B.Arch program, and this academic year, he begins the post of Visiting Assistant Professor of Architectural Sustainability in Indiana University’s new J. Irwin Miller Architecture Program.
