    Maria Matamoros, LEED AP BD+C, ID+C, O+M, EDGE Expert, Fitwel Ambassador (she/her/hers)

    Passionate about environmental design, Maria has been managing LEED certifications since 2009. Her experience includes working as a sustainability consultant for projects in the US, Costa Rica, and other countries in Latin America.

    Maria worked as an appointed member of the LEED Sustainable Sites Technical Advisory Group for the last 4 years, helping develop the LEED rating system, ensuring it remained rigorous and market relevant. As a Pro Reviewer for the USGBC since 2015, she also helps review courses for the Education@USGBC platform, providing feedback to improve education quality.

    Maria holds an Architecture degree from the University of Virginia, and a Master’s Degree in Architecture and Sustainability from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia in Barcelona, Spain.
