Founder and CEO
Leadax
Roeland van Delden is the visionary founder and CEO of Leadax, a product focused manufacturing company revolutionizing the roofing and waste management industries. Since 1999, he has also been the owner of the parent company Bitufa, which manufactures bituminous membranes. The future lack of fossil raw materials like bitumen inspired him to develop a circular economy solution, transforming discarded plastic material into valuable, engineered roofing products through his waste-to-product business model.
At Leadax, Roeland has harnessed the power of waste to create sustainable, circular waterproofing products that performs at the highest level while making a positive impact on the environment. By using unusable plastic polyvinyl butyral waste as raw material, not only Leadax provides a scalable way to reduce global waste and greenhouse gas emissions, it also represents the first circular solution of its kind in the roofing industry. In 2017, the company launched a high-quality replacement material for toxic heavy metals like lead and copper, which are commonly used in residential buildings for flashing and waterproofing. Leadax's products are already available in 16 countries, including the United States.
At the World Expo in Dubai, Roeland unveiled Leadax's latest innovation: a 100% sustainable and durable single-ply roofing membrane made from unusable PVB waste, which can be recycled up to 7 times. This disruptive membrane has the potential to waterproof all the flat roofs in the world using waste instead of virgin raw materials, making a significant contribution to the transition from a linear to a circular economy.
Roeland holds a Master's in Financial Management from Nijenrode University and has completed a study on Innovation in the Age of Disruption at Insead. As a global leader in the circular economy, he is frequently invited to speak at conventions around the world, such as Horizon19 in Boston and FutureBuild in London. He is also a member of the Economic Board in the Zwolle area.
Roeland is passionate about using today's waste to prevent global waste forever, and his dedication to sustainability and innovation has made him a respected figure in the building industry.
